Canada

According to the Economist’s 2003 survey of Canada, it is not just the country’s winters that are cool. Canada itself is generally seeing a ‘cool’ revival celebrated for balancing a growing economy with liberal social policies which have encouraged many from the US to brave the Great White North in search of a more laid-back lifestyle.

Canada’s commercial centre is Toronto which hosts a range of industries from banking to healthcare to automotive. Ottawa, the country’s capital is just a couple of hours drive east and it is there that the major law firms and political lobbyists have their offices. A few more hours to the East lies Montreal, which, arguably, is the cultural center of the country. Montreal boasts a highly international population coming from countries such as France, Portugal, Italy and Brazil – such a cosmopolitan mix of nationalities ensure the city’s vibrancy and give it a great restaurant and nightlife scene.
