Luxembourg

Luxembourg, a small landlocked country at the heart of Western Europe, has a population of less than half a million people and an area slightly smaller than Rhode Island. It is the world’s only sovereign Grand Duchy, a constitutional monarchy with a parliamentary representative democracy. Its economy is among the most developed, with the highest GDP per capita in the world.

Luxembourg can be referred to as the engine of European integration, being the founding member of EU, NATO, UN and Benelux, for example. Its capital, Luxembourg is the home of several EU institutions. The country enjoys stable, high-income economy with stable growth and low inflation & unemployment. Formerly dominated by steel, the economy is now primarily service oriented.

Finance & banking is now the strongest sector of the economy. Luxembourg, together with Belgium and the Netherlands (Benelux) create the most stable economic zone in Europe. Its sound economy, unique state system, involvement in the EU development as well as interesting history and beautiful architecture make it a popular place to visit.
