Poland
Poland, the largest of the new EU member states, and one of the most outspoken EU members, has been pursuing an agressive reform policy for the past 15 years and has achieved considerable success in its transformation process. While growing economically, it remains a reasonably cheap and safe country to visit, known for its hospitality and interesting cities.
Warsaw and Krakow are typical stops for any visit to this large country. Both cities provide visitors with unique glimpses into Poland’s long and fascinating history, while also acting as part of the bedrock for its dynamic growth and future potential. Outside these cities, it is clear that while Poland’s transformation has been impressive, there is still a long way to go. While the private sector, entrepreneurship and family-owned companies are progressing at an impressive rate, the public sector remains an obstacle to further progress, giving weight to the theory that Poland is a country which is successful, despite its government.
