Guided City Tours

Designed to complement the learning experience, these fact-based, historical tours provide students with a solid knowledge base to start their trip. Our highly skilled, knowledgeable and professional local guides will provide not only the historical facts, but also the links between history and present-day life; discussing the cultural differences and relevant current topics in politics, economics, etc.

Suitable for: All student levels & program participants

  • These tours help provide an overview of the region, country and city. This activity links history to behavior (both in daily life and business) while also highlighting cultural awareness and cross-cultural understanding. Partaking in these tours help participants with their orientation of the city and relevant sights and locations

Thematic Tours

Option 1: TAILORED TOURS - Our tailored tours have a very specific focus and are for programs where the general guided city tour does not complement the scope of the international trip. The tours can focus on a wide range of topics, for example: architecture and design, real estate, urban planning or art. For these tailored tours, our guides are professionals from the sector who are able to speak in-depth about the chosen topic.

E.g. urban development and sustainability in Mexico City, Gaudi’s Barcelona, Cubism in Prague, virtual reality tour, etc.

  • These tours offer a comprehensive understanding of the historical evolution and current landscape of a specific field or industry. They also highlight future economic and social impacts, while exploring emerging trends and long-term prospects

Option 2: FOOD TOURS - To understand a country’s cuisine is to understand its culture, history and people. Our specialized food tours give participants the opportunity to sample exquisite local dishes and delicacies and gain exposure to a unique side of the culture.

E.g. Czech beer tour, chocolate tour in Lima, coffee tasting in Costa Rica, foodie tour in Kuala Lumpur, etc.

  • This option delves into the history and development of the local economy, customs and culinary culture. Participants will have the opportunity to discover iconic hotspots and hidden gems, offering a flavorful introduction to the city while helping them get oriented with key neighborhoods, landmarks and local traditions.

Social Impact Tours

Our social impact tours are designed to broaden perspectives, offering a unique lens into realities that are often overlooked or rarely experienced by many. By engaging with the city through its sights, sounds and scents, and hearing stories directly from the locals, we gain a deeper understanding of how we, as visitors, can foster meaningful connections with both the place and its people, ultimately enhancing our positive social impact on these communities.

E.g. see the city through the eyes of the homeless; tours of favelas, slums or townships and interactions with locals trying to make a difference in those communities

Suitable for: MBA and/or EMBA students

Level of interactivity: Medium

• Price range: $$ - $$$ (A portion of the price is donated to support the community who welcomed the group)

  • These tours help bolster empathy and emotional intelligence, critical thinking, cross-cultural understanding, complex problem solving (both in daily life and business) and cultural awareness. Additionally, they help participants with their orientation of the city and relevant sights and locations.

Workshops, Classes & Hands-on Experiences

Learning by doing has proven to be the most engaging, effective and enriching way to acquire new skills. Our hands-on experiences are carefully tailored to help participants learn or master a specific skill tied to the local culture.

E.g. French patisserie workshop, drumming session in South Africa, glass blowing in Venice, beer brewing in Prague, Chinese calligraphy workshop, etc.

  • By engaging in immersive, skill-based activities rooted in local culture, participants develop practical competencies while enhancing teamwork, creativity, and collaboration. These experiences also deepen cross-cultural understanding by placing students in interactive settings that mirror local traditions and craftsmanship.

Immersion Activities

These tailored, unique ISP activities match the culture and customs of the program’s destination with some practical skills linked to everyday business and non-business-related life. Participants work in teams to complete a set of pragmatic tasks that will immerse them into the daily lives of the locals and require them to make the necessary cultural, linguistic and practical adjustments to thrive in a foreign country.

E.g. City scavenger hunt - catching the city Seoul, cultural & business-focused immersion activities

Suitable for: All levels; Scavenger hunts for Undergraduates and immersion activities for MBA & EMBA

  • Participants strengthen their abilities in teamwork, leadership and decision-making through collaborative challenges. These activities promote cultural adaptability and problem-solving, as students navigate unfamiliar environments. 

Events & Exhibitions

Local events and exhibitions allow participants to experience the culture and see how locals spend their time. Be it attending a football match, seeing a Cirque de Soleil performance or visiting a museum such as the Louvre, these experiences play a significant role in getting to know the country, the city and its people.

E.g. Local sporting events (soccer match at Camp Nou), museum exhibitions (Museum of Broken Relationships in Zagreb), opera or theater performances (Much Ado About Nothing" in The Globe Theatre or exploring the inner workings of the Sydney Opera House), etc.

  • Attending local events and cultural exhibitions offers participants an authentic window into how locals live and engage with their community. These experiences enrich cultural knowledge, foster social awareness and enable students to interact with locals, enhancing their cross-cultural understanding

Excursions

Arranged to give participants the chance to escape the hustle and bustle of the city and explore other parts of the country/region. Excursions are half- or full-day group trips led by local professional guides that focus on the sights and culture of the destination while also teaching the history and development of the country.

E.g. Discovering the Mekong Delta, exploring Sintra - Portugal’s glorious “Eden”, Alpine adventure - in the footsteps of enchanting Neuschwanstein Castle & marvel at the beauty of the ancient capital of Kamakura
