Join the Departments of Kinesiology and Criminology & Criminal Justice on an immersive study trip through Sweden and Denmark. Start your journey in Sweden with visits to both Stockholm and Malmö. While there, you’ll engage with your respective disciplines through specialized visits, university sessions and unique learning opportunities.

From Sweden, your adventure will continue south to Copenhagen. Spend a full day discovering Denmark’s capital, strolling its colorful streets, visiting iconic landmarks and immersing yourself in the rich culture that defines the city.

What to expect from your time in Sweden & Denmark: 

  • With its robust legal framework and progressive approach to justice, Sweden offers an unparalleled learning environment for Criminology & Criminal Justice students. During this trip, you will have the chance to:

    • Gain insights into the legal profession: Learn about the Swedish Bar Association, explore the rigorous standards required to earn the title of advokat and tour the association’s headquarters.

    • Examine restorative practices: Discover how mediation is integrated into the justice system to support both victims and offenders.

    • Explore crime prevention strategies: Visit The Swedish National Council for Crime Prevention and hear firsthand how Sweden addresses public safety and social policy.

    • Engage with leading scholars: Meet faculty and students from the Department of Criminology at Stockholm University to exchange perspectives and ideas.

    • Understand systems in context: Delve into the inner workings of Sweden’s legal and political institutions to see how they compare with those in the United States.

  • Healthy lifestyles are a cornerstone of Scandinavian culture, where public health, physical activity and sport sciences are actively promoted and integrated into daily life.

    • Explore academic perspectives: Visit leading Swedish universities to see how kinesiology is taught and researched, and compare their approaches to those in the United States.

    • Experience health in action: Observe how principles of exercise science and wellness are applied beyond the classroom through community initiatives, healthcare and everyday routines.

  • These countries offer more than academics, they’re also known for their world-class gastronomy, fascinating museums, charming neighborhoods and so much more. While exploring these cities, be sure to:

    • Savor the flavors: From classic Swedish meatballs and cozy fika to Danish smørrebrød and crispy fried pork, there’s no shortage of culinary delights to try.

    • Discover world-class museums: Stockholm boasts an incredible range of museums, from history, science and technology to the Nobel Prizes, photography and even ABBA. There’s something to spark everyone’s interest!

    • Experience Copenhagen’s alternative side: Visit Freetown Christiania, a self-governed neighborhood unlike anywhere else in the world.

The price is based on services currently included and can change if modifications are made to services. The final price is calculated based on traveling headcount and other services subject to change.
