EQ Kuala Lumpur
EQ is the latest chapter in the legacy of one of Kuala Lumpur’s most well-known hospitality names. The original Hotel Equatorial was established in 1973 and quickly gained a reputation as a premier five-star destination, famed for its high service standards, and equally renowned for its stellar restaurants and bars. After 40 years as one of the city’s most iconic landmarks, a redevelopment was announced in 2012.
EQ was unveiled in March 2019, as part of the much-lauded Gold-standard Green Building Index-accredited Equatorial Plaza. The 52-storey hotel tower is ultra-modern and environmentally conscious yet infused with its predecessor’s legendary warmth and outstanding level of hospitality.
Student Room: Deluxe King Room
Located on Level 40 and above, EQ Kuala Lumpur’s Deluxe King Room offers a stylish retreat with sweeping views of the Petronas Twin Towers and Suria KLCC. The spacious 40 m² room combines contemporary comfort with Malaysian-inspired design and features a king bed, ergonomic workspace and a luxurious bathroom with a deep soaking bathtub and separate rain shower. Faculty Room: Premier King (with lounge access)
Offering a generous 50 m² of space, EQ Kuala Lumpur’s Premier Room provides a comfortable and sophisticated setting for both work and relaxation. The room features a king bed, ergonomic workspace and chaise lounge, alongside a spacious bathroom with a deep soaking bathtub and separate rain shower. To reach EQ Kuala Lumpur from Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA), you can take a taxi or ride-hailing service such as Grab. The journey typically takes around 45–60 minutes, depending on traffic.
Alternatively, you can take the KLIA Ekspres train from the airport to KL Sentral, which takes approximately 30 minutes. From KL Sentral, continue to the hotel by taxi or Grab.

Use only official airport taxis or licensed ride-hailing services when travelling from Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) to EQ Kuala Lumpur. Taxi services are available at both KLIA Terminal 1 and Terminal 2. Ride-hailing services such as Grab are also widely used in Kuala Lumpur and can be booked through the Grab app.

After clearing immigration, collecting your luggage and passing through customs, follow the airport signs for ground transportation and taxi services. If using Grab, check the app for your designated e-hailing pick-up location, as pick-up areas vary by terminal.

Payment: Confirm the taxi fare or payment method before beginning your journey. Grab fares and payment details are displayed in the app when booking.
Pick-up location: KLIA has designated areas for passenger pick-up, so always follow airport signage or the location shown in your ride-hailing app.
Journey time: Allow approximately 45–60 minutes to reach EQ Kuala Lumpur, with additional time during peak traffic periods.
Safety: Avoid accepting unsolicited transport offers inside the terminal and use official airport transport services or recognised ride-hailing apps

The KLIA Ekspres is a convenient and fast option for travelling from Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) to the city centre. The non-stop train connects both airport terminals with KL Sentral, Kuala Lumpur’s main transportation hub. The journey takes approximately 28 minutes from KLIA Terminal 1 and 33 minutes from Terminal 2.
Getting to EQ Kuala Lumpur:
Take the KLIA Ekspres from KLIA Terminal 1 or Terminal 2 to KL Sentral.
From KL Sentral, the easiest option with luggage is to take a taxi or Grab directly to EQ Kuala Lumpur.
Alternatively, you can continue by public transportation. EQ Kuala Lumpur is approximately a 3-minute walk from Raja Chulan Monorail Station.
Tips:
Tickets: KLIA Ekspres tickets can be purchased at airport ticket counters, self-service kiosks, online or through the KLIA Ekspres app.
Fare: The standard adult one-way fare between KLIA and KL Sentral is RM55.
Luggage: KLIA Ekspres trains have dedicated luggage space, making them suitable for travellers arriving with suitcases.
Journey: For travellers unfamiliar with Kuala Lumpur, taking the KLIA Ekspres to KL Sentral followed by a taxi or Grab to the hotel is generally the simplest public transportation option.
